2027 Acura RDX: What's Changing, Release Date and Pricing for New York Drivers
Published September 11, 2026 · Last updated September 11, 2026
Search for the 2027 Acura RDX and you get renders, rumors and confident guessing. The confirmed story is shorter: the RDX is going hybrid, the current generation is ending production in Ohio, and the next one will wear a face first previewed at Monterey Car Week this August. If you drive, lease or plan to replace an RDX in New York, timing matters more than rumors. Here is what Acura has said, what the industry expects, and what you can drive while you wait.
Where things stand in September 2026. Acura has not announced a 2027 model-year RDX, and no 2027 trims, prices or EPA ratings exist. Figures marked 2026 are the official current lineup; anything labeled expected comes from industry reporting. We update this page when Acura publishes details.
What's changing on the 2027 Acura RDX?
Close to everything. On January 14, 2026, Acura confirmed the fourth-generation RDX will be the first Acura with Honda's two-motor hybrid-electric system, the biggest shift since the 2019 redesign brought today's turbo 2.0-liter and 10-speed automatic.
In May, at a Honda business briefing in Japan, Acura showed a Hybrid SUV Prototype riding on a next-generation platform, with an improved two-motor system and a newly developed electric all-wheel-drive unit that splits torque through motor control instead of mechanical hardware. Acura did not badge it, but the industry widely reads it as the RDX's foundation.
The styling comes from the NEXERA Vision, a butterfly-door coupe unveiled August 14 at Monterey Car Week. Acura says its ultra-thin, "A"-inspired lighting signature reaches production first on the RDX Hybrid. The butterfly doors stay on the show stand.
Still unannounced: horsepower, mpg, dimensions and whether a gas-only RDX survives. Reviewers have criticized the True Touchpad Interface for years, and the industry expects a touchscreen and newer software. Likely, not promised.

Photos show the current RDX. Acura has released only a teaser silhouette of the fourth generation, not production images.
When is the 2027 Acura RDX release date?
Acura has named neither a date nor a model year. Its wording is "the next couple of years," and the milestones so far point past calendar 2027.

Most industry estimates put the fourth-generation RDX Hybrid on sale as a 2028 model. Acura has not confirmed this.
So is there a 2027 RDX at all? As of September 2026, analysts don't expect one. The likely scenario is a gap in which the 2026 RDX stays the newest RDX on sale until the hybrid arrives. If your lease matures in that window, start planning early: remaining 2026 stock, a certified pre-owned RDX or a lease extension are all worth pricing side by side, and the monthly lease specials and current manufacturer incentives show whether the math favors buying now.
Will the 2027 Acura RDX cost more?
Almost certainly, though by how much is guesswork until Acura prices it. The 2026 RDX runs from $45,100 to $54,850 before destination, and Acura listed a $1,350 destination charge at launch. That was only about $400 above the 2025 model.
A new platform, hybrid system and electric AWD cost money, and industry forecasts have the next RDX starting around $48,000 and topping out just under $60,000. One offset: Honda says its next hybrid system is cheaper to build than its 2023 version.
The monthly payment matters more than MSRP. A pre-approval with no Social Security number or date of birth sets a real budget in minutes, and an offer on your current car shows how much your trade covers.

Acura RDX trims compared: the 2026 lineup and what is known for 2027
Acura sells the RDX as one model with option packages, and every version shares the same 272-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter, 10-speed automatic and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. No 2027 trims exist yet, so the 2026 lineup is the working baseline.
| Trim | MSRP (2026) | Key equipment | EPA mpg (2026) | Best for | 2027 status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| RDX | $45,100 | 19-in black wheels, panoramic moonroof, heated power front seats, 10.2-in display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, AcuraWatch | 21 / 27 / 23 | Buyers who want AWD and luxury basics | 2026 only |
| Technology Package | $47,700 | Milano leather, 12-speaker ELS Studio audio, navigation, front and rear parking sensors, wireless charging | 21 / 27 / 23 | The value sweet spot for most drivers | 2026 only |
| A-Spec | $50,700 | 20-in Shark Gray wheels, gloss-black trim, sport seats, ventilated front seats, 16-speaker ELS Studio 3D | 21 / 26 / 23 | Sportier look without the top price | 2026 only |
| Advance Package | $52,850 | Head-up display, adaptive dampers, surround-view camera, heated wheel and rear seats, full leather | 21 / 27 / 23 | Commuters who park in tight spots | 2026 only |
| A-Spec with Advance | $54,850 | Advance equipment plus A-Spec styling, 20-in wheels and sport interior details | 21 / 26 / 23 | Every feature the RDX offers | 2026 only |
| Fourth-gen RDX Hybrid | Not announced; forecasts near $48,000 to start | Two-motor hybrid, new platform, electric AWD, NEXERA-style lighting | Not rated | Stop-and-go city drivers who can wait | Expected as a 2028 model |
Reviewers often call the Technology Package the value pick. For city parking, the Advance Package's surround-view camera is the feature you will use daily.
How it compares with the last restyle
The last update, for 2025, was deliberately small: a frameless grille, new wheels, a redesigned console with larger cupholders and an easier-to-reach wireless charger, and wide-screen phone mirroring. No new sheet metal; the engine and touchpad stayed. The fourth generation is a clean sheet.
| Area | 2025 to 2026 RDX (last restyle) | Fourth-gen RDX Hybrid |
|---|---|---|
| Powertrain | 272-hp 2.0L turbo, 10-speed automatic | Two-motor hybrid (confirmed) |
| All-wheel drive | Mechanical SH-AWD, standard | New electric AWD unit (confirmed for the platform) |
| Design | Frameless grille, new mesh and wheels | NEXERA-derived ultra-thin lighting (confirmed) |
| Infotainment | 10.2-in display with True Touchpad | New software and touchscreen (expected) |
| Fuel economy | 23 mpg combined | Not rated; large city gain expected |

A panoramic moonroof is standard, the rear seat fits adults, and cargo space runs 29.5 cubic feet behind the second row and 58.9 with it folded. ELS Studio audio remains a class highlight, and Alexa Built-in and a Wi-Fi hotspot come on every trim.

What the awards actually say
U.S. News & World Report ranks the 2026 RDX No. 2 among luxury compact SUVs with a 9.0 out of 10 score. NHTSA gives it a five-star overall safety rating, and J.D. Power's predicted reliability score of 85 out of 100 lands in the "Great" band. The IIHS named the RDX a TOP SAFETY PICK+ for 2023 and 2024; its tests have since toughened, and the current model holds no 2026 award.
The brand record helps too. Kelley Blue Book named Acura America's Best Value Luxury Brand in its 2025 Consumer Choice Awards, the second time Acura has won it. Car and Driver gave the Integra Type S its Editors' Choice award for 2026, a third straight year, and the Acura ADX earned an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK. And more than 85% of the Acuras sold in America in 2025 were built here.
Why the RDX works for New York drivers
- All-wheel drive on every trim. SH-AWD shifts torque rearward and side to side, useful on wet cobblestones, icy ramps and the hills of Riverdale or Staten Island.
- A footprint that parks. At 187.4 inches long with a 38.9-foot turning circle, it slips into curb spots a three-row MDX would pass by.
- Garage-friendly height. At 65.7 inches tall, it clears the limits posted at most Manhattan and Queens garages.
- Clearance for real pavement. 8.2 inches of ground clearance shrugs off potholes and steep driveway aprons.
- Parking tech that earns its keep. Parking sensors with low-speed braking start at the Technology Package; Advance adds a surround-view camera.
Two honest caveats: Acura recommends premium fuel, and 23 mpg combined adds up in crawling traffic on the BQE or Cross Bronx. If your miles are mostly stop-and-go and your car can last into 2028, wait for the hybrid. Need an SUV sooner? Consider the smaller Acura ADX or the three-row Acura MDX. RDX owners (2015 and newer) got a loyalty offer in January 2026 toward other Acuras; terms change, so check the incentives page before you shop.

At 65.7 inches tall, the RDX fits the parking garages many New Yorkers rely on.
